Dafo Temple is located at No. 21 Huixin Middle Street, East Huifu Road, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province.
First constructed in the Southern Han Dynasty (917–971), it was originally called Xinzang Temple. The temple was rebuilt on the original site in the Yuan Dynasty and renamed Futian Nunnery. Large-scale expansions were carried out in the Ming Dynasty, and it was renamed Longzang Temple, establishing its status as one of the Five Great Buddhist Monasteries in Guangzhou.
Due to historical changes, only the Mahavira Hall survived, while all other halls were converted into residential buildings. In 1996, after Master Yaozhi took office as abbot, Dafo Temple was renovated through joint efforts of all parties and has thrived ever since.
